How can I be more active?

It’s hard to want to become active, and sometimes harder to squeeze in time in your daily routine. Just getting some exercise is better than none. Simply standing more can have big benefits.

Start slow. While watching tv, walk or march in place during the commercials. Try stand-and-sit exercises or touch your knee to your elbow. While waiting for dinner to cook, do a few push-ups against the kitchen counter.

Gradually work up to longer walks, either outside or on a treadmill. If you have joint issues, try an elliptical or recumbent bike.
